The new MakerBot Replicator Mini+ is the simpler and especially smaller version of the Replicator+, the newest work horse of MakerBot. With a compacter format of 11.7 x 13.7 x 15 inches versus 20.8 x 17.3 x 16.1 (295 x 349 x 381 mm versus 528 x 441 x 410 mm), a smaller maximum build volume 4 x 5 x 5 inches versus 11.6 x 5 x 5 inches (101 x 126 x 126 mm versus 295 x 195 x 165 mm) and the lack of an ethernet connection, the mini is especially directed towards classrooms and education in general as well as for the workplace.
Faster and more silent
In comparison to the previous Mini this plus-version is a bit faster (10%) and you can print with a 28% larger build volume. And, very important, the MakerBot Replicator Mini+ runs 58% quieter than its predecessor. This 3D printer is thus ideal for use for example at the workplace or in the classroom.
Unfortunately also this new Replicator Mini+ with its minimum resolution of 100 micron does not belong to the absolute top of what can be found within 3D printer land. Nonetheless, also complex objects come out with fine detail and are directly useable from the machine. Additionally to that, this printer is also a bit cheaper in acquisition compared to many 'professional' 3D printers of other brands.
The new exchangeable printhead for the Mini+, the Smart Extruder+ is especially developed for an eye towards easy 3D printing. You have on this part six months warranty and you know that the parts have undergone their 160.000 hour trials, so you can safely expect beautiful results, a high reliability and consistent prints.
Not only does the new Replicator Mini+ have many different features that you may already know from its predecessor, such as connectivity via WIFI and USB cable, but also the printer has been improved significantly in many areas.
An important improvement comes in the form of the so called 'Grip Surface' printbed. On it prints attach better, which can help reduce warps and deformations. And because the printbed is now also flexible, already printed objects are also a bit easier to remove. And that is a big improvement in regards to its predecessor, the Mini+, that still came outfitted with glass, which required taping.
Moreover, the printbed is from the factory already optimally leveled; thus, you can begin working with the Replicator Mini+ immediately.
Very practical in the Mini+: Thanks to a camera mounted in the printer, you can remotely monitor the progress of your prints. You can view the media in the MakerBot print software or the MakerBot mobile app. Based on this you can directly intervene should something unexpectedly go wrong and constantly sitting next to the 3D printer to keep an eye on it becomes a thing of the past.
